Your original Samsung Lamp is a 100W/120W bulb. The older generation TVs used what we call the "Big" Samsung Lamps while the newer generation TVs use the "Small" Samsung lamps. (For more information on this, click here) . Instead of selling you the older generation lamp, we have created a patent pending lamp adapter...this adapter will enable older TVs (which were fitted with the big lamp) to utilize the newer generation lamps and hence enjoy the reliability improvements of the redesigned lamps.

Here we show two original enclosures for the BP9600608A / BP96-00826A (they look identical)...yet, on the left there is a smaller lamp and on the right there is a bigger lamp, as shown below:

Notice one lamp is considerably smaller than the other one. The small lamp is the NEWER, BETTER, more reliable lamp.

This smaller lamp (on the left) is used in all the HLS & HLT Series televisions

The smaller lamp is originally a Philips 120W / 100W lamp as is the older bigger lamp. The idea replacement part is the newer Philips E22 lamp (2" Diameter Square Bulb). This is the newest and most reliable lamp Philips has created, and it's 100% compatible with your TV. With the 6000hr rating, the filament is higher quality than its predecessors and hence, life expectancy is higher.

It is important to note if you have the housing on the left (the smaller enclosure) or if you have the housing on the right (the larger enclosure).

Ok, what does this mean?
Since we are reusing your old enclosure, we want to send you the approperiate part that will FIT inside your old enclosure. It doesn't do you any good if you have the enclosure on the right (the big enclosure) and we ship you just the new, smaller lamp.

Ok, so...what exactly will you ship me?
a) If you have the enclosure designed for the smaller lamp, we will ship you the newer smaller lamp. This will be a direct replacement. Replacement instructions are available by clicking here.
Your replacement lamp will look just like the original, but it will perform better:

b) If you have the enclosure designed for the bigger lamp, we will ship you the newer lamp with an adapter fitted on the bulb.

Ok...I'm still a little confused. The lamp plus adapter fits directly in place of the old lamp?

Yes, exactly. There is no custom work or fabrication. Take out the old lamp, put in the new one...just like changing out a light bulb! The new lamp+adapter is exactly the same diameter as your older lamp, here is a picture of a prototype before we went into production:
