This is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) replacement lamp enclosure for your Samsung DLP TV.  The lamp housing (also known as: the lamp assembly, plastic enclosure, base, cage, block, cartridge) is made by Samsung.  The lamp inside the housing is manufactured by Philips, the innovator of UHP lamp technology and the worldwide leader in supplying rear projection TVs and front projector lamps.

The "O" stands for Osram, the manufacture of the lamp originally in your TV set. We consider the OSRAM product as a aftermarket lamp because Samsung uses Philips lamps exclusively with a few exceptions (this being one of them). As the demand for Philips UHP lamps exceeded supply, Samsung was faced with the tough decision of A) not producing any TVs or B) using a different supplier for lamps.

We always recommend changing your BP96-01403A lamp with a Philips original lamp as it will last longer.  This product enclosures the Philips lamp and the Samsung plastic enclosure reassembled and ready for replacing your old assembly.
