The "O" stands for Osram, the manufacture of the lamp originally in your TV set. We consider the OSRAM product as a aftermarket lamp because Samsung uses Philips lamps exclusively with a few exceptions (this being one of them). As the demand for Philips UHP lamps exceeded supply, Samsung was faced with the tough decision of A) not producing any TVs or B) using a different supplier for lamps.

We always recommend changing your BP96-01394A lamp with a Philips original lamp as it will last longer.  This product enclosures the Philips lamp and the Samsung plastic enclosure reassembled and ready for replacing your old assembly.
